Comprehensive evaluations for ADHD, autism, learning differences, and more — across South Carolina

When something feels off and you can't quite name it, a professional psychological evaluation can replace uncertainty with clarity. Whether you're an adult who has spent years wondering about ADHD, a parent trying to understand why school feels so hard for your child, or a college student navigating new academic demands, the right assessment gives you real answers and a path forward.

At Trusted Results Therapy Group, our licensed psychologists provide thorough, individualized evaluations for clients of all ages across our Charleston, Mount Pleasant, North Charleston, Columbia, Myrtle Beach, and Rock Hill locations.

⚠️ Please call before scheduling to discuss insurance and payment options

Psychological testing is billed separately from outpatient therapy and follows different coverage rules. Even if we are in network with your insurance for therapy, that does not automatically mean testing is covered.

Depending on your specific plan, testing may be covered by insurance, partially covered, or self pay only. Our team will walk you through your options so there are no surprises.

Please call 843 793 2104 before scheduling so we can:

  • Review whether your insurance covers psychological testing for your specific plan
  • Walk you through self pay options if testing is not a covered benefit
  • Discuss alternatives, such as our Medication Management team (which accepts most commercial insurance plans), if formal testing is not the right fit for your goals

What we evaluate

Our psychologists are trained to assess a wide range of presenting concerns. Common reasons clients come to us for testing include:

  • ADHD evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults
  • Autism spectrum evaluations across the lifespan
  • Learning disability assessments, including reading, writing, and math
  • Cognitive and intellectual evaluations to understand strengths and areas of need
  • Personality assessments to inform diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Diagnostic clarification when symptoms overlap or a previous diagnosis no longer fits

If you're not sure whether testing is the right fit, our team will help you think it through during your initial call.

What to expect from the process

A psychological evaluation is more than a single appointment. It's a structured process designed to give you a complete, accurate picture. From start to finish, you can expect:

  • Initial diagnostic interview. We start with a thorough conversation about your history, current concerns, and what you hope to gain from the evaluation.
  • Testing appointments. Depending on the referral question, testing may include cognitive measures, attention and executive functioning tasks, academic testing, behavior rating scales, and personality measures. Sessions are paced to reduce fatigue and produce reliable results.
  • Scoring, interpretation, and report writing. Your psychologist analyzes the data, integrates it with your history, and prepares a detailed written report.
  • Feedback session. We sit down with you (and, when appropriate, your family) to walk through the results in plain language, answer questions, and discuss recommendations.
  • Recommendations and next steps. Your report includes specific, actionable recommendations, whether that's therapy, medication consultation, school accommodations, workplace adjustments, or further evaluation.

Why it's worth doing

A formal evaluation can:

  • Replace guesswork with objective data about how your brain works
  • Provide diagnostic clarity that informs the right treatment approach
  • Support 504 plans, IEPs, and college accommodations with documentation that schools recognize
  • Document workplace accommodations under the ADA when needed
  • Inform medication decisions by giving prescribers a fuller clinical picture
  • Validate experiences that may have gone unrecognized for years

For many clients, the feedback session itself is one of the most meaningful parts. Hearing your experiences explained, contextualized, and named is often the first step toward real change.
